Discover Pho Hoan Pasteur Gardena

If you’re craving a bowl of deeply aromatic Vietnamese noodle soup in Gardena, Pho Hoan Pasteur Gardena is the kind of place that quickly becomes part of your regular rotation. Tucked at 1420 W Redondo Beach Blvd, Gardena, CA 90247, United States, this spot blends comfort, consistency, and serious flavor in a way that feels both casual and intentional.

I’ve visited several times over the past year, usually during the lunch rush when the dining room hums with families, office workers, and longtime locals. Each visit has followed a familiar rhythm: a quick greeting, a laminated menu packed with pho variations, vermicelli bowls, rice plates, and Vietnamese iced coffee, and then the unmistakable scent of simmering beef broth drifting from the kitchen. That broth is the heart of the experience. According to culinary research from organizations like the National Restaurant Association, diners consistently rank authenticity and depth of flavor as top decision factors when choosing ethnic cuisine. Here, that authenticity is evident in the process. Traditional pho broth is typically simmered for hours with beef bones, charred onion, ginger, and spices such as star anise and cloves. You can taste that long, careful simmering in every spoonful.

On my first visit, I ordered the classic rare steak pho. The bowl arrived steaming, layered with thin slices of beef that gently cooked in the hot broth, fresh cilantro, green onions, and a generous pile of rice noodles. The side plate of bean sprouts, Thai basil, jalapeños, and lime lets you customize the flavor. That interactive element-adjusting sweetness, heat, and acidity-is part of what makes Vietnamese cuisine so appealing. Food scholars from institutions like the Culinary Institute of America often highlight how balance defines Southeast Asian cooking. At this Gardena location, that balance feels dialed in. The broth is savory but not heavy, fragrant but not overpowering.

Beyond pho, the menu offers grilled pork rice plates and vermicelli bowls that deserve attention. I once brought a friend who doesn’t usually order soup, and she opted for a bun thit nuong-grilled pork over vermicelli with pickled vegetables and fish sauce. The pork had a caramelized edge, slightly smoky and sweet, and the pickled carrots cut through the richness. That meal converted her. Real-life case in point: she now stops by after gym sessions because it feels hearty without being greasy.

Cleanliness and service matter just as much as flavor. During my visits, tables were cleared quickly, condiments were stocked, and the staff checked in without hovering. Online reviews across major platforms echo similar sentiments, frequently mentioning generous portions and fair pricing. While wait times can stretch during peak hours, especially on weekends, turnover is steady. It’s not a white-tablecloth setting, but that’s part of the charm. It’s a neighborhood diner-style Vietnamese restaurant where the focus stays on the food.

Nutritionally, pho can be a relatively balanced option when compared to many fast-casual meals. Broth-based soups generally contain fewer calories than cream-based alternatives, and the herbs add micronutrients without extra fat. Of course, sodium levels in restaurant soups can be high-something to keep in mind if you’re watching salt intake. Still, when you’re choosing between greasy takeout and a steaming bowl of beef noodle soup loaded with herbs, this feels like the smarter pick.

Location also works in its favor. Being right on Redondo Beach Boulevard makes it accessible whether you’re coming from nearby Torrance, Carson, or just driving through Gardena. Parking is typically manageable, though it can get tight during peak dinner hours.

What stands out most, though, is consistency. Over multiple visits, the broth tasted the same, the noodles had the same springy texture, and the herbs were fresh. In the restaurant world, consistency is harder than it sounds. It requires disciplined kitchen processes, controlled simmer times, and quality ingredient sourcing. That reliability builds trust, and trust keeps people coming back.

When you’re scanning restaurant reviews and trying to decide where to eat, you want somewhere that delivers what it promises. In this case, it’s simple: flavorful pho, a varied Vietnamese menu, fair prices, and a comfortable space to sit down and slow down over a hot bowl of soup.

  • I came here three months after they opened, made my research of this place and saw this is their second location which gave me the impression of the great love they give to their dishes and the owner always giving his all to remember all his customers. The love and care that the owner and his wife give to all their food gives comfort and a sense of warmth. Also in house made chili oil

  • THE BEST VIETNAMESE RESTAURANT EVER IN A PRIMARILY HISPANIC AREA‼‼ As a Vietnamese-Chinese person myself, that was beautiful. I ordered the satay pho, and I’ve never had a dish like this before. I love the noodle texture and meat. The soup is a little spicy and sweet, not as spicy as it appears. Ask for chili paste and add it My father ordered the Pho Brisket and that was really good too. Soft, delicious meat, noodles, and soup. Service was normal pretty good they always make sure to say thank you loudly as you leave. Pretty nice building. Not enough ice in water though. Anyways love this place had low expectations pretty good this was my first time. Com tam isn’t bad either.

  • Chose this pho location because it was close to my Airbnb and LAX, but would stop by again! Pho broth was amazing and service was great! They were lovely and food was delicious! Would recommend getting a pork bánh mì as well! Ate it on the plane and wish I could go back for more!

  • I was searching for a Pho restaurant in the area, and I struck gold. This is probably some of the best Pho I've ever had period. I went with the Pho Tai large, and after I broth, I knew I made the right choice. It was so good that I had to empty the bowl. Good broth makes or breaks a Pho restaurant. I highly recommend this place.

  • I’m just going to keep it short & simple. This place is amazing and one of my favorite places to eat at. I’ve been going here since they first opened and they never disappoint. The flavor of their broth is super tasty, the Oxtail and Beef Rib Pho is a 10 out of 10 and my son really loves their chicken Pho so much. Our absolute favorite! The staff there are very friendly and welcoming and their restaurant is very clean and spacious. If I could, I would eat there everyday.

  • Edit: I brought my boyfriend here and he agreed! 10/10 pho place! Delicious savory broth! Egg rolls were also fresh and crispy! Parking was easy and service was very fast.

  • My brother and I went to Pho Hoan Pasteur with high expectations as they had high ratings on Yelp. He ordered the regular sized steak and tendon pho. He found one piece of tendon in the entire bowl, so he was disappointed. The taste of the pho broth was just OK... not the best, nor the worst he's ever had. I had the grilled shrimp bun and it came with two egg rolls. I was disappointed as rice noodles were all broken. It felt as though the bowl was filled with the rice noodle scraps at the bottom of the bag. The fish sauce wasn't remarkable either. I added lime juice and samba. We tried it. We probably won't return.
